Nashville, TN – 4/20/2017 – Student music ensembles from high schools across the country will perform in a commemorative concert, Songs of Thanks, for the American veterans of the Vietnam War in Schermerhorn Symphony Center. The concert, presented by WorldStrides OnStage, is scheduled for April 24 at 8 pm and free to the public.

“The United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration” was formed by the U.S. Secretary of Defense to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War.  WorldStrides OnStage joins the Commemoration as a “Commemorative Partner”, to honor Vietnam veterans nationwide. The Schermerhorn Symphony Center is the last of four concerts nationwide.

The concert’s repertoire includes a special arrangement of The National Anthem, America, The Beautiful, and The Stars and Stripes Forever. Individual ensembles will also make tribute to veterans during their performances. Admission is free to all.

“Music is a great way to display our patriotism and give thanks to our veterans who have served for our country,” says Dr. Michael Huff, Artistic Director for the Festival of Gold Song of Thanks. “During the concert, we will honor all U.S. Veterans, specifically Vietnam Veterans with a presentation of thanks before and after the concert.”

Songs of Thanks is an encore performance of the Festival of Gold, an elite festival hosted by WorldStrides OnStage. It is a festival for elite choirs, bands and orchestras who are invited to perform in prestigious performance venues like the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. This year’s festival will feature choral adjudicators, Dr. Jeffery Redding, Dr. Edith Copley, and instrumental adjudicators, Dr. Andrew Dabcynski and Anthony Maiello.
