The Bible relates how the Israelites passed through Jordan – the Land of Canaan – on their way to the Promised Land. The 400 years of Ottoman control ended in 1918, and Transjordan became part of the British protectorate until the Hashemite Kingdom of Transjordan was officially founded on May 25, 1946. Be inspired by the stories, the contrast in landscapes, and the traces of the rich and varied cultural eras of this small Middle Eastern country.
Twenty percent of the workforce is employed directly or indirectly in tourism. Overall, the sector is predicted to grow by 5.5% annually through 2025.
