The Curriculum and Academics Team at WorldStrides is the full-time crew of credentialed teachers who work to ensure that there is a spotlight on the educational elements of our educational travel programs. There is no question that our programs fulfill the mission of igniting student growth through travel at every stage of development. What is gaining new attention is the support that WorldStrides offers to teacher-educators across the country.
WorldStrides offers Instruction and Management for Increased Learning – this course is a three-credit graduate course that has been carefully designed by Dr. Wendy Amato to support practicing teachers as they develop, refine and expand the skills that make all the difference in student learning outcomes. Course units include topics such as Establishing Norms and Setting Expectations; Instructional Learning Formats; Writing About Teaching; Controversial Issues in Behavior Management; and Differentiation. Assignments are inspired by a range of videos, articles, and foundational texts. Participants engage with one another, sharing strategies, lesson plans, grading techniques, feedback and reflections.

Dr. Amato’s course has run in the fall semester for the past several years, leveraging the back-to-school timing of the academic calendar. The course is divided into two-week units that provide flexibility for teachers’ busy schedules and a balance between self-pacing and traditional deadlines.
