Plugs and Voltage

Traveling Tip: Plugs & Voltage

When preparing for travel, many folks worry about differing voltages in different countries.  For most of the devices people travel with though, they need not worry.

Computers, tablets, phones and cameras can easily be charged with the typical voltage offered in hotel rooms, coffee shops, and airports abroad. Nearly anything with a battery to be charged will work fine. Only a few items need to be checked more carefully such as those that make heat (hair dryers, curling irons, and the like) but most hotels rooms have hair dryers anyway.  When it comes to chargers, some off brand chargers won’t work, but I have not found a name brand or a charger that was included with a device that won’t work.

Of course you will need a plug adapter in order to use your device while traveling. They are lightweight, low cost, and small enough to tuck in a pocket of a carry-on or suitcase. You can find adapters at tech stores, department stores, online and even at some home stores.
